The swatch looks delicious!
Congratulations to your friend and Abbie (and Leif of course;))with baby Maren. How do you pronounce their names? I'm Danish and my guess is that you pronounce Leif like the foliage but Maren I can't really tell. We say something like laif with a strong "a" and Maren we pronounce like the french mar (sea) and then add an "n". Very cute, strong and traditional names but not very used these days.

Thanks for the always very interesting posts!

Twisted stitches look so good; one day I will try them. Blue Hubbard squash are my favorite, but they rarely show up in the local stores. My father grew them when I was a kid; one year the smallest one we had weighed twenty pounds. We cut them with the wood-splitting axe. Yum.

I love twisted stitches, but haven't really seen them that much outside of sock knitting. I will have to take a look at what other things I can do with them.

I have a pair of acorn squashes from this week's farmer's market. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them yet, but the butternut squash became a soup with creamy neufchatel. It's in the freezer waiting for me to run out of leftover lasagna.

I just got that book and have been looking at it nightly before I go to bed! I read through it immediately, brought it with me for two car trips just to flip through. The fantasies are never ending. Your swatch is so tempting. I think I might have to look through my book again.

I think we live parallel lives - I have squash on the menu for tonight! (Mine is acorn, however.)

Oh man, I ADORE twisted stitches. Your little swatch is so appealingly autumnal. And thanks for making me feel better about my calves definitely meriting a special increase panel! :-)
